Online backup

I'm interested in recommendations for free internet-based systems for backing up my hard drive. I have a Seagate hard drive and use Time Machine, but I'm looking for an off-site location so I don't have to worry about a fire destroying my iMac and the backup drive the same time. I've heard that Carbonite is good, but it's not free. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
John

Mozy has a 2 Gig free backkup

http://mozy.com/mac

they have a pro version that is $5/mo, for unlimited, which is very cheap.

*1. Sign up for an account.*
Create a MozyHome user account which will allow you to download MozyHome
software. It's quick, easy, and our step-by-step instructions will guide you
through the process.

*2. Download and install software.*
MozyHome downloads in just seconds, and the installation is simple and fast.

*3. Select files to be backed up.*
Simply check the boxes next to the backup sets, or types of files you want
to back up, and MozyHome does the rest. In addition to selecting files by
backup sets, you also have the option of selecting specific files and
directories

there is also Dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/

it's not a backup service per se, but you can store 2 gigs of documents,
pictures, etc for free. But what's nice is you can access these files from
any computer, any platform, or share them with others. It's very helpful if
you're working with files at work and at home. no need to email or put on a
thumb drive. So this can be a great way to back up those important files or
pictures when you travel.

I'm sure there are other services out there too.
