Dear Group,
This is a question for those of you who use PowerPoint. The template files for PowerPoint (for the Mac as well) are .pot extensions. I have downloaded some new template files from the Internet to add some pizazz to use for an upcoming medical presentation.
First, I cannot figure out where to move these downloaded template files in the Finder so that PowerPoint can view them as options upon opening PowerPoint. PowerPoint has about 64 templates that came with the application but I have so far not been able to find these files in the Finder, using search names .pot or .potx.
Second, even finding templates that came with PowerPoint that were found with the above search but not the default 64 that I referred to above, I can't figure out how to save these so that when PowerPoint is opened I can find them in what is called the Element Gallery (collection of templates that came with PowerPoint).
Third, I noticed that "preview" does not work with .pot or .potx files in the finder. Hitting the spacebar shows me a generic icon and not a preview or thumbnail. Trying to change the "open with" to preview.app is not possible since that choice is grayed out.
I have Googled this, gone to PowerPoint Help & Forums, and also just emailed Microsoft help as well as spoke to tech support from the site I downloaded the new templates. So far now solution.
Does anyone in ASHUMG have insight on solving the above issues? Help would be greatly appreciated.
